Limited Edition of 100. SRA3 (320x450mm), 300gsm Recycled Paper Stock, with vintage ink. Selected for the Royal Academy of Art, Summer Exhibition 2024.

It’s a lovely expression don’t you think? The cameo or white-letter was what printers did way back when to get solid white text on the page, as white ink tends to be somewhat transparent (and slow drying). If only the blocks weren’t so troublesome on the press. In which room would hang it?

Allegedly, the printers of old did not enjoy printing with this style of type, as the faint ghost lines depicting the edge of each block used to irk them. I really like them. You can see on this print how the bottom right corner of the ‘D’ is worn. I guess the printer I salvaged these from, enjoyed working with them as much as I do, hence created this wear over many decades of use. Based on the wear, I estimate these to be over 100years old. A Red Edition is in the pipeline, watch this space.
