Antipodes

Recycled Card Stock 270gsm 100x450mm, Sold unmounted and unframed.

When translated, Antipodes means opposite foot.

Definition of antipodes

1): the parts of the earth diametrically opposite - usually used in plural - often of New Zealand and Australia, as contrasted to the western hemisphere.

2): The exact opposite or contrary.

This print is constructed using a victorian wooden letterpress arrow sourced from Hertfordshire, along with a wide sans wooden type face made by Stephenson Blake.

The colour of the print draws its inspiration from the parakeets found on the Antipodes Island to the SE of New Zealand. Interestingly, it is these NZ Islands which are antipodal to London, with parts of greater NZ more antipodal to Spain.

Geographically correct when hung anywhere in the world with an antipodal landmass above water and a perfect artwork for the australasian living in London, wondering which way points home! Homesick? Start digging lads!
