450x225mm, Sold Unframed, 270gsm Recycled Paper Stock, Vansons Rubber Ink
Hand Printed using large and extremely rare ‘Chromatic Woodtype’. This shaded inline fount has been dated to 1877 thus far and is probably older still.
The unique feature of this woodtype is the ability to create 3 colours from just two passings of the paper through the press. There are two blocks for each letter and there is an area of common-overlap between each of the two blocks which creates the third colour where they mix. In this case, a vibrant near fluoro blue has been paired with a flouro pink, giving a resultant purplish 3rd colour.
This style of printing represented the height of sophistication in the mid/late 1800’s. A 1930’s Border (Made by Delittle of York), and also a Chromatic style of woodtype has been used for added vitality and vibrancy.
Childrens names and other single word commissions available on request starting at £65 no edits, with 1 week turnaround, please email for further information workshop@hooksmith.com
